Why we love being Mothers

The following post is a guest post contribution by Tracey Montford. Read more about guest posts here

Being a mother is one of life’s little gems! It is truly one of the hardest things you will do but is so rewarding. Everyone’s journey is different. For some it is a rocky road from start to finish, for some, it is a smooth sea sailed and for others, it has a few bumps along the way, but stays pretty much on course.

Wherever the journey takes you, it is important to take time to reflect and enjoy the simple things that make motherhood so wonderful.

Unconditional love

You will never in your lifetime experience love like that you get from your child. Through all the tantrums and ‘I hate you’, what remains certain is the bond between mother and child, which is unbreakable.

You can always count on a good belly laugh. Sometimes not intentionally, children surprise us with their thoughts, honesty, and observations that stretch society’s beliefs – ‘Through the eyes of your baby’

Enjoying the simple things

Finding pleasure in little things! Discovery of our world i.e. walking on grass for the first time, following a bug, looking at a flower! These are all the things we take for granted every day. Our children remind us to stop and take notice of the beauty that surrounds us.

Growing up

Watching our children grow up into young adults is a privilege and a real joy.
Over the years their personalities and interests develop. They eventually leave home and become independent and self-sufficient members of society.

Our relationships with our children changes as they get older. They rely less on our guidance and rely more on our support and friendship.

When our children reach milestones and work hard to achieve their goals we feel proud of them for all they have achieved.

Their achievements feel personal because we have been their supporting and guiding them through their journey.

Watching your children with their Grandparents is heartwarming. You gain a newfound respect for your parents after you have children and definitely rely on them more than ever before.

Growing up siblings can fight, love and compete with each other. This can be a very trying time for parents,
Luckily the good times outweigh the tougher ones.

Love and friendship between siblings develop over the years is for a lifetime.

Playing with our children is an opportunity to escape from the stresses of everyday life and connect with our inner child.

Cuddles and kisses

My favorite thing in the whole wide world is a big huge and a sweet kiss followed by an ‘I LOVE YOU’.
It is enough to melt any heart.

It is these special moments and more that make motherhood so wonderful.
