I’ve always wanted to see the inside of the library in front of the Melbourne Central Station, that is the State Library of Victoria. When I learned that they have a Play Pod where kids can play, read, and do crafts, then off we went; baby and me.
The Play Pod is located inside The Courtyard, which is on the left side of the building’s 2nd level. I’m not sure what is on the 1st level, but the 2nd level is where you immediately will be when you enter the main entrance. On the 3rd floor is the Queen’s Hall where you can study and must follow silence. On the 4th and 5th levels are exhibits where you can learn about Victoria history, literature, and first settlers. On the 6th is somewhat an interior balcony/ overlook to which you closely view the dome.
In the library, the adults can view the exhibits or read some books/ magazine/ newspapers. After that, the kids can enjoy playing and crafting at the Play Pod! Crafting tools and materials are provided.
Play Pod is open daily from 10 am to 4 pm. Storytime is also held twice weekly:
- Wednesdays 11.30am-12pm
- Thursdays 10.30-11am
